Brand Sprints
Pompous Alpaca
Project Type: Branding, Collateral Design
Tools Used: Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
Art Direction: Caleb Heisey
I created an expanded brand for this alpaca boutique business concept. I designed a logo and two patterns to apply to various collateral to execute the application technique. The logo ended up being a simple logo with an alpaca head replacing the P. I then created a few simple geometric patterns to apply throughout the collateral. In addition, I chose a neutral color palette to give the brand an earthy, natural feel. I also chose a rounded typeface for the logo to help portray the soft fibers that the boutique sold.
Handmaid’s Tale
Project Type: Publication Design
Tools Used: Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign
Art Direction: Jenn Stern
For this book cover design, I made the main character’s clothes the book's title. This represents how the women in this book are contained and limited by their society. The clothes that they had to wear were to label them. The reason why I made the type look constraining against the figure is to push the idea of limitation and the power struggle from the book’s plot.
East Coast Creamery
Project Type: Branding, Packaging
Tools Used: Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Stager
Art Direction: Caleb Heisey
For this design sprint, I was assigned to create an ice cream flavor inspired by a childhood memory. The memory I chose was going to the beach every year and eating strawberry crepes on the bay at Ocean City, Maryland. Growing up, I went to OCM during the summer for about ten years in a row. It was a big part of my childhood and upbringing. For this design, I wanted to emulate the ice cream brand while also including the bayside sunset feel. I also added illustrations of strawberries and palm trees on the packaging to further push the beach feel of the brand. The layers of color that I included also pushed the concept of sunset colors and the cool colors of the water at the beach.
